Pieter Delaere

photo DelaerePieter 4Seven years old, Pieter Delaere (°1988) took percussion and saxophone lessons at the academy in Waregem, where he finished both courses summa cum laude.

After high school (Latin-Mathematics) in Ghent, he went to the University College of Music in Ghent, where he graduated as master in performing music – Classical Saxophone, magna cum laude in 2011.
He also studied the 'percorso solistico' for classical saxophone for one year in Pesaro, Italy, where he obtained 30/30 cum laude in the class of Federico Mondelci.

He won the first prize on the 'International Music Tournament' (TIM) in Verona (Italy), became semifinalist on the 'Circolo Cameristico Piemontese' in Chieri (Italy) and won 11 national prizes in Belgium as a soloist and composer.

At this moment, he composes and arranges for music schools, ensembles and bands. Pieter is also the conductor of a wind band, a fanfare and a youth band. Pieter is very much interested in both classical and contemporary music, and therefore, he explores the gabs and bridges between both worlds in a lot of orchestras and ensembles (I Solisti del Vento, Italian Saxophone Orchestra, seni kolektif,...) or as a soloist in several countries (Belgium, France, Italy, The Netherlands, South-Korea, ...).

Pieter works together with the singer Yi Li Qi (professor at the Sichuan Conservatory of Music, China) on a project to bring different cultures together.
