This composition draws inspiration from a fragment of the ancient Sumerian Gilgamesh epic. Initially conceived as a slow piece, it transformed during the writing process into a lively and spirited work. It captures not only the rich heritage of the epic but also the essence and character of the friend for whom it was composed.
