Nederlands Willy Bauweraerts
Willy Bauweraerts took his first music lessons in theory and accordion at the local music school in Turnhout, soon followed also organ and saxophone lessons. From the age of seventeen, he started several jazz and rock formations and with which he performed many concerts and gigs in Belgium.
He started with classical saxophone studies at the Royal Flemisch Conservatory of Music in Antwerp with Alfons Michaux, and followed later later on classes with Tom De Vette en Ferdinand Povel at the Royal Conservatory Rotterdam for jazz-pop-rock-afro, as well as classes wind band conducting with Jaap Koops. Bauweraerts eventually perfected in London with Larry Stabbins (of the band ‘Working Week’) and Olavo Vas.
Soon he is asked to play in various bands with famous Belgian and international artists,, including The Lords show band with Louis neefs, the cover band Beri-Beri (with Bart Peeters and Jan Leyers), The Skyblasters (a reggae band), Sydney youngblood, Boogie Boy, Jean Bosco Safari, Isabelle A, Jasmine, Sunny Side Up, Alec Karoza, Mikis Theodorakis, and many others. Also, he gave concerts as a “one man performer” with his own music on saxophone, bamboo sax and wx 11 midi sax.
Willy Bauweraerts is currently active as a teacher of saxophone at the music academies of Hoboken and Berchem. He also writes tunes for various television programs and companies. With his own recording studio, NacNacStudio, he organizes various music and video projects.
